Breaking old habits is hard. Starting new habits is hard, too.
With that in mind, let’s start small. With a morning walk.
Tell yourself, “Today, I will take a 30-minute walk.” This does not mean, “I will walk for 30 minutes every day from now on,” or “Gosh, do I feel guilty for all the days I didn’t take walk last week.” It just means that today, you can achieve what you set out to do.
After you complete your walk, congratulate yourself on having followed through with one small goal. If you don’t walk again tomorrow, that’s okay. You now have it within your power to set those goals again, at any time, and achieve them.
